About Me

Hi Everyone!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far in my fitness and modelling career. The reason I chose to write an about me page was to share with you my successes and failures. I want to share the highs and lows of my journey, just as all of the people I coach and train have shared with me there's. I hope that I can inspire, motivate and help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

Why a Blog?
The reason I blog is to Inspire, motivate and educate women about Health, Fitness, Nutrition and Happiness. My journey has brought me so much personally and professionally. I hope in sharing my journey I inspire you!
Body Image, Insecurities and Frustration
My personal journey to achieving my fitness goals
Growing up I had the same struggles and insecurities about my body image as every teenage girl (of any woman really) .Unhappy with my level of fitness and my body I fell into the trap most of us find ourselves in.  I tried dieting, not eating right, skipping meals,  over exercising (cardio) and constantly weighing myself - you could say I had a scattered approach, try everything I could think of and hope something worked, it didn't . I'd had enough of doing things that just didn't work! Finally I decided to seek the help from a professional, I invested in a personal trainer at the local gym. I learn't how I could achieve my health and fitness goals, as well as the importance of healthy eating and a balanced exercise. To me my health is one of the most rewarding investments, if you do the hard work and apply the knowledge to your workout and eating habits you will get the results you want to achieve. Fitness and living a healthy lifestyle is more then just a goal to achieve, it is a lifestyle and way of life. I not only changed the appearance of my body, I changed the way I thought about taking care of my body.

"I began to love anything to do with exercise, it became fun for me and it quickly became part of my everyday routine"

My Journey to becoming Personal Trainer
  Out of my comfort zone
Being a personal trainer allows me to help others who are ready to make positive changes in their lives and that feeling alone is so rewarding. I have a passion for fitness and since becoming a trainer at Snap Fitness Parkwood in November 2013 I have been so grateful to help other achieve their goals. Coming to work and getting do what I love is a dream come true. They say when you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. I can't think of a more accurate statement to describe my job. Sharing in my clients excitement and drive pushes me to work harder. When I see how happy and fulfilled they are I get such a sense of pride and joy. I want to constantly push my own boundaries and limitations and continue to improve my own fitness. I am not happy with settling and not striving further and achieving goals.

Challenging the belief models have to be skinny not healthy.

Jessica Stevens - Shot by Angel Riley

Having started to achieve my personal fitness goals and now studying my certificate III in fitness i decided to pursue modeling. I was approached by Harlem Productions to do a shoot that would later appear in the February 2014 Zoo Issue. I was SO nervous! I had an idea in my head of how I wanted to present myself as a model and a woman confident in her body but I also wanted to be confident in front of the camera and still had some areas i wanted to work on.  I set goals, I worked hard and when it was time for the shoot, I was confident and felt great. One of the most important things for me was being healthy and to portray a healthy body image for other woman.

At the beginning of my fitness career I did a shoot for Zoo magazine. I was just starting out with my modelling career as well, so I was very nervous and wanted to be confident with my body and look my best for the shoot.

When I look at these pictures, it represents so much more than just a photo shoot. It reminds me that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

My First Major Publications

2013 was a big year for me and when I feel my career and business has really began to gain momentum. I was interviewed by HealtHaven about my Modelling,  featured in the 2013 Wet N Wild Calender, several Zoo features and was named the International Kickboxer Girl of the Month for November.  Being asked to be one of the models in the Wet N Wild calender was huge for me and it really represented a milestone for me in my career.

"Its such a shame that many girls who pursue modelling fall into very unhealthy eating habits just to try and look good enough for the industry. Too many times girls are just uneducated on nutrition and believe that under-nourishing their bodies will lead to weight loss and help them achieve the body that they desire. I really hope that combining my love for modelling and fitness that I can educate these women and be a positive and healthy role model.  I was so surprised and excited when I first learnt I had been named International kickboxer of the month and I have Charlie Suriano to thank for this. Having being featured in the Wet n Wild calender and now the International Kickboxer magazine, two major publications I feel as though this was the first of many major milestones in my career.  I can see my hard work in the gym was really beginning to show and further my modelling career.
if you are interested in having a professional photography session, I would highly recommend Charlie. His work with me is what landed me the Wet N Wild Magazine and the International Kickboxer magazine.
